The film deals with the artist's trip to Italy in 1824/1825. The romantic painter Ludwig Richter (1803- 1884) from Dresden spent a period of study in Italy from 1823 to 1826. After numerous sketches, he later produced 26 paintings with Italian motifs in his studio in Meissen, which can be found in important art collections today. The film follows the painter's footsteps in the central Italian Sabine Mountains to the places he painted.
