Around 200 years ago, Dresden society was shaken by a murder: the respected painter Gerhard von Kügelgen was brutally beaten to death on his way from his vineyard house in Loschwitz near the Waldschlösschen. The murderer was soon caught and the crime was investigated as thoroughly as possible at the time. Nevertheless, questions remained unanswered. On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of his birth, the life and work of Kügelgen in Dresden and the consequences of this act of violence are presented on the basis of this terrible deed.
